To all our Friends and Supporters,

A Concert of Remembrance, St John’s Smith Square, London SW1P 3HA, Wednesday November 11th at 7.30pm.

Following a hugely successful concert at the Canterbury Festival in October, and with a BBC 1 Inside Out feature due in the New Year, Kent Sinfonia is now about to lead a poignant and exciting Concert of Remembrance in Westminster on the 11th November 2015.
Please join us for this momentous occasion:
With music from Ravel, Butterworth, Vaughan Williams, Ivor Novello and Elgar, and featuring the first performance of the Ravel Piano Concerto for the Left Hand by a one-handed concert pianist since 1951!

Nicholas McCarthy (born in 1989) is the world's only one-handed concert pianist.

Who is Nicholas McCarthy?
 Ted Talk, Royal Albert Hall
 ‘Ocean’ Etude
 BBC Breakfast
Kent Sinfonia will also perform Ravel's Mother Goose Suite, Elgar’s Nimrod and Finale from Enigma Variations, and A Shropshire Lad - Rhapsody by George Butterworth (killed at the Somme).
Soprano Philippa Mercer will lead an Ivor Novello song selection with Keep the Home Fires Burning and We’ll Gather Lilacs, in tribute to wartime entertainers. The arrangements are for full orchestra and arranged by Trevor Deyner (horn player, Kent Sinfonia)
98 year old BBC and WW2 Singer Helen Clare will be guest of honour

16 year old tuba prodigy Tom Wu will perform the first movement from the Vaughan Williams Tuba Concerto, which will be conducted by Steven Wassell.
Renowned conductor Philip Hesketh will give narrative and conduct this historic concert.
The concert will raise awareness for SSAFA and Veterans of War charities and we will be joined by Roger Bacon, head of bereavement services.
The performance of Elgar's Nimrod will also be played in dedication to all those that have suffered through conflict.
Family and Friends of the orchestra will benefit from using the promo code “Nic1914” for a £5.00 reduction off the top tier tickets.
